***New album, No Kings, was released today***

Today, the Minneapolis Hip Hop Collective, Doomtree, released it's third studio album entitled No Kings.

Much like their previous work, it is the coming together of 7 individual artists, each bringing their own musical talents and backgrounds.

Doomtree is made up of P.O.S. whom I posted HERE and HERE, Dessa, Sims, Mike Mictlan, Cecil Otter, Paper Tiger and Lazerbeak, most of which hail from Hopkins High School located just outside of Minneapolis.

Having had been a fan of P.O.S. first, I always enjoyed the way he took Hip Hop and injected it with Rock and Punk.  This same Rock and Punk influence is heard with Doomtree as well.

Both "Beacon" and "Bolt Cutter" can be found on No Kings.  Be patient with "Beacon" as it shifts gears at 40 seconds in.

Starting Sunday December 4th, the Doomtree Blowout VII will hit First Avenue and the 7th Street Entry.  Each night, one of the Emcees (Sims, Mike Mictlan, Dessa, P.O.S. and Cecil Otter) will be taking the stage at 7th Street Entry, leading up to a group effort on Friday and Saturday night in the First Avenue Main Room.

Seven straight days of awesome local music.

And even though I went to Cooper, a rival of Hopkins, I purchased the album today anyways, and predict that "Beacon" will be on repeat this week.
