Post #176: Milk Carton Kids - "Permanent"

Post #176:  It is always a pleasure for me to meet the artists I see in concert, and last night worked out so that I was able to meet Joe Purdy before the show.  I did have to run half a block, and raise my voice and call out "Mr. Purdy!".

My friends Lisa and Crystal are never going to let me live this down.  "Why didn't you offer to buy him a beer?", they ask.  I'm sure I made a fool of myself, but it was well worth it.

Last night Joe, whom I posted HERE in April, was amazing!

Then there was the opening act The Milk Carton Kids.  I by chance ran in to them after purchasing my tickets to the Mountain Goats show, whom I posted HERE and HERE back in February.

I introduced myself and they in turn did the same: Joey Ryan and Kenneth Pattengale.

Super nice guys, and as I would find out during their set, they are funny too.  Very funny.

But more importantly, they are extremely talented.  Not only were they dead on with the harmonies in their own set, but as they backed up Joe Purdy it makes you wish they were on each of his albums as well.

Their new album Retrospect can be downloaded for free from their website.  I encourage you to do this as I can't find the album anywhere on itunes, Amazon, CD Baby, or emusic.

If you do download it, make sure to check out their solo stuff on itunes.  They each have a few albums, and I'm certain I will be purchasing those over this next week.

I know I have said this before, but The Milk Carton Kids have proved to me once again, that it is an absolute must to catch the opening act.

Thanks for a great show!  And thank you Crystal and Lisa for a great night!

I filmed this video last night, and will be posting more to my Youtube channel of both The Milk Carton Kids and Joe Purdy.  Check back soon.
