Post #121: The Cure - "Close To Me"

Post #121: About twice a year, one of the companies I work with brings in a handful of guys from around the country that do what I do, but for competing firms. During the first evening, they take us out and get us tired for the following day which consists of a seven hour meeting.

Last night was one of those nights. They brought us to the Wild game.

At one point, I had a chance to talk with Phil from North Carolina, and of course the conversation eventually worked it's way to music.

With both of us being 35, I assumed there would be some common ground when it comes to music we grew up on. Turns out we both had a love for The Cure.

I was in the 6th grade, when my new friend Vince gave me a cassette of their 1980 release Boys Don't Cry. It was a copy which he recorded from his original using his dual cassette player.

A little later on he would provide me a copy of their 1985 Head on the Door album, which included this song.

To this day, I consider these two albums to be in my list of all time favorites.

I still have the dubbed cassettes that Vince gave me.

I always will.

  1. One of my all-time favorite songs--it's nearly perfect.
