Post #115 (Hip Hop Thursday #9): Missy Elliott - "On & On"

Post #115 (Hip Hop Thursday #9): Seeing that March is Women's History Month, I thought it might be a good thing to start posting some ladies, which I have yet to do in March.

So for today, and through next week's Metal Monday, it will be all vocalists of the female variety.

When it comes to hip hop, the first thing that grabs my attention is the beat. In a lot of cases, the beat makes the song. One of my favorite beat makers is Pharrell from N.E.R.D. who is also part of a production duo with Chad Hugo.  Together they refer to themselves as The Neptunes.

They are probably best known for producing Justin Timberlake's first album Justified, and Snoop's "Drop it Like it's Hot".

Their beats are often times disjointed and use sounds other than just drums.

The beat in this song is amazing.  How can you not want to move your body when you hear this?

This is from her 2005 album, The Cookbook. This is not the actual video for the song, but it is pretty close.
