Post #100: Led Zeppelin - "Black Dog"

Post #100: I wanted to do something special for this post, seeing that this is day #100, so I thought I would post the song that started it all for me.

To be honest, I don't even remember how old I was, but I was probably in the 4th or 5th grade.

My family had gone to an apple orchard with the Nobles, family friends of ours, after church one Sunday. I ended up riding in the back of their wood paneled Wagoneer. The SUV of the day.

My friend Tom was my age, and his older brother Gary was pretty in to music. I remember going to their house and looking through his records and posters on the walls. Thinking it was all so "cool".

But this day at the apple orchard is when something in me clicked. At some point this song came on, and I was absolutely blown away. I had never heard anything like it.

It was at that moment, that I actually made a conscious decision that I love music. From that point forward, I have had a passion for music, that doesn't seem will ever go away.

Thank you Gary! Thank you Wagoneer! Thank you Zeppelin!

  1. Congrats on your 100 entry! Go Zeppelin!

  2. I can relate to your story, but unfortunately mine is slightly different. If Led Zepplin came on the ratio while I was riding home from church in our panelled station wagon, my parents would have gone to great lengths about how rock and roll was the devil's music. Took me a long time to work through that.

  3. Dan, I grew up in the same kind of environment. I actually have a post coming up where I will share about that experience.
