The New Pornographers - Mutiny, I Promise You

Post #43: The last two posts were Canadian artists, so I thought I would continue with that for today.

The New Pornographers are considered somewhat of a "Super Group", with all of the members being somewhat prominent in the Canadian music scene, with a few of the members having "popular" success in the US as well (AC Newman, Neko Case and Dan Bejar).

It has been long rumored that they chose their name after Jimmy Swaggart made a claim that rock and roll was "the new pornography." The band has denied this claiming their name was derived from a 1966 Japanese film. Regardless of their name, this is some of the best "Power Pop" around.

There are so many good songs to choose from I decided to go with one from each of their last two albums. This song, "Mutiny, I Promise You" is from Challengers, which was released in late 2007. From beginning to end probably my favorite of theirs. If you were to pick one of their 5 albums, I would recommend checking this one out.
